A newly formed Belper and District Speakers Group aims to help people to build the confidence and skills needed to speak in public.
Whether it’s for a wedding, a job interview, a college presentation or speaking to a local group it is said that for most people public speaking is one of the UK’s most feared undertakings. However, with the right encouragement and training it is possible to overcome this fear and turn public speaking and presenting into an enjoyable and highly satisfying experience.
Attracting people from a wide range of backgrounds the Belper and District Speakers Group is a friendly group of like-minded people who help and encourage each other to practice speaking in a pressure free and enjoyable environment. Whilst the group is led by skilled speakers who are keen to share their own experience, most of the people who attend initially have little or no experience of speaking and presenting.
The group meets on the second Thursday of each month and is open to anyone with an interest in public speaking. The cost per session is £5.00.
If you feel you would like to have a go at public speaking and that the group could benefit you, or even if you just want to build confidence, then you are welcome to come along to the next meeting on Thursday evenings at Belper Studio, Kilbourne Road, Belper DE56 1HA (7-9pm).
Technical issues with the venue meant that the group had to cancel their meetings in December. We have now been informed that these issues have been resolved and meetings will recommence from:
Thursday the 10th of January (7.00pm start).
