Katie Spencer at The Queens Head, Belper May 18th
Barely turned 21, Katie Spencer is without doubt the brightest new star in the acoustic firmament.
Channelling sources as diverse as Bert Jansch, Sandy Denny and John Martyn, her debut album ‘Weather Beaten’ has been grabbing rave reviews while Katie continues to sell out venues across the UK.
The veteran Ralph Mctell hails her as the next big thing describing her work as ‘tapestries of songs’ and he should know after fifty decades in the business.
Katie however is firmly of today, blending her influences into a style of writing and performing that is as original as it is spiritual and uplifting.
Support comes in the form of the cool folk, soul and world sounds of Spindrift.
Tickets are £8 / £7 unwaged and available at the venue or contact mjones572@hotmail.co.uk.
