Auction Raises £2000 For Belper Tearooms Project

On Friday, November 3rd, a fundraising auction was held by Friends of Belper River Gardens to raise funds for the Belper Tearooms Project.

The evening, which took place at the Strutts Centre,  was overseen by antiques expert Charles Hanson. Hanson is a local auctioneer famous for advising contestants on the BBC’s Bargain Hunt, Antiques Road Trip and Flog It!

Local people and businesses provided items such as restaurant meals, beauty sessions, venue tickets, a trip to Parliament and a signed photo of Aiden Turner & Eleanor Tomlinson from Poldark.

Organiser Dorothy Griffin said: “The auction was a great success and I think everyone enjoyed the event. We had over 100 people there. There were two auctioneers, Vejay Pal from sdl auction house in Nottingham and Charles Hanson from Hansons in Etwall. Due to their generosity and skill we made a profit of  £2000.

“I would like to thank the people of Belper for coming, bidding and making the evening so successful. All the money will go into the Tearooms fund. Another step towards our goal.”

The group are aiming to put in an application for planning permission before the end of the year.
