Chance To Comment On Updated Local Plan

Belper residents now have their opportunity to comment on the details of the updated Local Plan for Amber Valley.

The Local Plan will set out the vision and the framework for the future development of the Amber Valley. The updated plan addresses needs and opportunities in terms of housing, the economy, community facilities and infrastructure. It will be used to guide decisions about development proposals and, alongside Neighbourhood Plans, is the starting point for considering whether planning applications can be approved or rejected.

Amber Valley Borough Council will be publishing a Pre-Submission Local Plan on 2 November 2017 and will be inviting representations to be made by 14 December 2017.

The Pre-Submission Local Plan follows the publication of a Draft Local Plan for public consultation in March 2017. It includes a number of changes to the range of policies and proposals to promote housing and economic growth in Amber Valley, whilst protecting and enhancing the Borough’s environment, taking into account representations received on the Draft Local Plan.

The Pre-Submission Local Plan and supporting documents will be available to view, from 4.30pm on 2 November 2017, on the Borough Council’s website here  Local Plan Update

and at the following locations during normal opening hours:-

  • Alfreton Library
  • Belper Library
  • Duffield Library
  • Heanor Library
  • Mackworth Library
  • Ripley Library and Town Hall (AVBC Offices)
  • Mackworth Library
  • Somercotes Library

From 4.30pm on 2 November 2017, a form will be available at www.ambervalley.gov.uk/localplan2016  to make representations on the Pre-Submission Local Plan, either to complete on-line or to download. Forms will also be available on request by either emailing ldf@ambervalley.gov.uk or calling 01773 841584.

Cllr Trevor Ainsworth, the Borough Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Regeneration has said:

The Local Plan is the Council’s key document in shaping the future growth of Amber Valley. I would encourage everyone to use this further opportunity to look at, and comment on, the policies and proposals in the Pre-Submission Local Plan.

As soon as practicable, following the end of the 6 week publication period, the Borough Council will formally submit the Local Plan to the Secretary of State, along with any representations received on the Pre-Submission Local Plan. The Secretary of State will then appoint an Inspector to undertake an independent examination of the Local Plan.

For any further information, please contact the Local Plan Team using ldf@ambervalley.gov.uk or on 01773 841584.
