Red Sox: Girls Football Team Gets New Kit Donated

A girls football team in Belper has kicked off the season in brand new strip thanks to a donation from local housebuilder Bellway.

Bellway has provided 13 sets of kit to the under 12s Red Sox team at Belper Sports Ladies FC.

The club, which hosts its games at Denby Institute and Recreation Ground, will use the kit in matches for the remainder of 2019 and 2020.

Kirsty Westran, Club Secretary of Belper Sports FC, said: “We’ve been running the ladies’ teams for five years now and started out with two teams. We’re now running 10 teams, which really does exemplify just how much the interest in women’s football has increased in the area.

“The club is run by volunteers and parents, so we decided to reach out to Bellway for their support with the under 12s, and they came back to us straight away to offer a helping hand.

“We are hugely grateful for Bellway’s contribution to the club, and the girls are really pleased with their new kits, which give them a nice professional look. It’s also given them a nice little confidence boost for when they play their matches.

“The girls are now really looking forward to their upcoming matches, and we can’t wait to see where this season takes us after a very positive start.”

Sales Director for Bellway East Midlands, Carolyne Watkinson, said: “Belper Sports Ladies FC is a wonderful club run by kind-hearted volunteers who help to bring wellbeing and entertainment to local people in Belper.

“It’s extremely important to us to give back to the communities that surround our homes, and we are really pleased to hear that the girls are enjoying wearing their new kits.

“We have been following the team’s progress so far and wish them all the best for the rest of the season.”
