Grants Available For Flood Victims

Central Government have promised  homes and businesses “seriously affected” by the recent floods grants of up to £5000.  The government states that these grants are for the sole purpose of improving flood prevention measures for the future.

They can be used to, “help homes and businesses to become more resilient to flooding by helping to pay for a range of property improvements. The funding will go towards the additional costs of installing fittings and materials that increase resistance to damage from water in the future, such as putting in flood doors and raising electrics off ground level.”

These grants will be distributed by the borough council, but specific details are required for claims to be made.

Even if you recieved help with sandbags, you will still need to contact the council to make sure that your property or business is listed in the claim.  If you were seriously affected by the floods, please contact Joanne Bamford at Amber Valley Borough Council, with details of the extent of how your property was affected by the flood.

You can email: Joanne.bamford@ambervalley.gov.uk or call 01773 841485
