WHAT'S ON

Phil Doleman and Ian Emmerson Present The Flea Bitten Dawgs at The Queens Head, Belper. Friday May 20th.

The night of the ukulele returns to The Queens Head, Belper.

Phil Doleman and Ian Emmerson  of course need no introduction to Belper audiences. Not so long ago, The Re-Entrants spearheaded the ukulele revival taking it to a national audience . Since then Phil and Ian have continued to champion the instrument taking it into the fields of blues, jazz and even 17thC court music.

Combining forces again, they return to where it all started and this time they bring with them Flea Bitten Dawgs, self-styled maestros of Ukulele Jazz Americana. David Henry Spangler and Thom Pallozola came together over a radio broadcast in St Louis Missouri at the end of 2010. Later adding percussionist Lee Kramm, the Dawgs have toured the USA relentlessly, released CDs and had songs covered by the likes of The Ozark Mountain Daredevils. Now they embark on their first European tour and bring an evening of goodtime music to the Belper venue.

Tickets are £7. Doors at 8.00pm.
