The Queen’s Official Birthday at St. Peter’s Church

The flower festival to celebrate the life of the Queen looks rather beautiful in the recently repainted St. Peter’s Church.  Whereas the church had previously looked a little shabby, a new lick of paint and some attention has transformed the building.  There are a number of displays around the church, including displays about the world wars, the Sunday School and creations by children’s groups, Cub Scouts, Hope for Belper/Street Angels and Penguin Club (a social club for adults with special needs and learning disabilities).

Church volunteers said that there had been a steady trickle of visitors today but that they thought poor weather might have put some visitors off.

The Flower Festival will run again tomorrow from 10am to 4:30pm, following a special service to give thanks for the Queen and continues through the “Path Party” from 3-4:30pm to celebrate the Queen’s Official birthday.
The church has promised that the Path party will go ahead no matter what the weather, as will the Hat Contest, so make sure you wear a stunning bonnet.
