BELPER GOES GREENFEATUREDWHAT'S ON

Belper Goes Green Goes Virtual

This weekend would have seen Transition annual ECO Festival Belper Goes Green.

The Covid-19 lockdown has put paid to that but some of the organisers are determined to put on a show nevertheless.

So, Belper Goes Green goes Virtual from around 15.00 on Saturday 30th May 2020.

Live music gets going on the Belper Goes Green Facebook page from 16.00 and will continue for around two hours until 18.00.

Most of the acts would have been on stage at the Rugby Club site this weekend.

It is far from a full line-up but six acts have stepped up to perform.

All of this has been put together by a small team who started work on Tuesday morning.

The lineup is:

  • 16.00 – local lad, Ben Taylor
  • 16.20 – Heage poet, Sophie Sparham who has appeared on local television and
radio and has been making waves in performance poetry circles
  • 16.40 – The Ferrets, who are the popular and well known local duo Nancy and
Markus Ferret-Paine play 20 minutes of their best original set
  • 17.00 – We have the return of Graham Graham Beck …for the third time at BGG
…live from Hull …with his odd ball songs and weird presentation that sometimes
involves cardboard boxes and key board playing
  • 17.20 – another local couple, Ola and Miles who have recently come together as
Shear Glass; bass driven original songs with a punk edge
  • 17.40 – Alex Grant who is song writer for Parla, a pop band from Burton who, in the
    90’s, nearly made it big

There may also be a few other films of past festivals and possibly film of performances on the Belper Goes Green stages.

Organiser, Richard Bett, would like to thank Bob Newbold and his son Joe.
