Belper Resident Reaches 100
Spencer Grove care home resident, Eva Clamp, celebrated her 100th birthday by hosting a party at her long-term home.
Her centennial birthday on 29th March 2020, was marked by enjoying a homemade cake, flowers and her card from Queen Elizabeth.
When asked by the Spencer Grove staff what her secret was to living a long and happy life, Eva said, ‘I’ve always been a worker and I’ve always had a very happy life and happy married life. I also have a whisky and lemonade every day – that’s probably had a lot to do with it!’
The area has lots of fond memories for Eva. She was born in Belper in 1920 and upon leaving school became employed at Belper Mill. She met her husband Jack in the local area and was married to him for 49 years.
The couple went on to have three children, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. ‘My family are very important to me’ says Eva. ‘I love to see them whenever I can.’
To help celebrate, Eva’s birthday announcement was put onto Spencer Grove’s Facebook page, which has now gathered more than 480 likes and 105 shares, putting it at the highest engagement post to date.
Eva has lived at Spencer Grove care home for eight months. The home in Belper is one of six ran by the group, Milford Care. Spencer Grove has recently received an ‘Outstanding’ rating by CQC.
