Get Involved With The Repair Cafe

The Repair Cafe is an initiative to mend the things we already own, instead of binning them and contributing to landfill, with items that will take a very long time to decompose.  The repair Cafe tries to cover as many mends as possible, but relies entirely on volunteered skills.  The repairs on offer depend on which repairers  can attend, but can include bikes, electrical, computers, clothes, knitwear, tool sharpening, toys, and general fixers for miscellaneous items.  You can also learn how the fixes are done, so that you can then repair things yourself.  And there’s cake, as it is a cafe.

Below are the dates for the Repair Cafe for the year.  There will be no Repair Cafe in May because the Repair Cafe is run by the same people who run Belper Goes Green.  August and December are also left out on purpose, due to family holidays and Christmas making the cafe impractical to run.

The Repair Cafe still needs volunteers.  If you are good at fixing things, have a particular skill which could be used in such a way, or just applaud the move towards a repair focused society and can serve cakes and collect donations, please contact the Repair Cafe through their Facebook page.

The next cafe is on 29th February, so there is plenty of time to get involved.
