1:26am
Results declared so far are 10 seats to Labour, 7 seats to Conservative, 1 seat to SNP (Scottish National Party)

Scotland appears to have reacted to the Conservative Party’s actions in completely the opposite way to England and both the declared vote and the Scottish exit polls suggest the Conservatives doing poorly there. Scotland has 59 seats in parliament.

1:46am
Declared seats:

Labour -17 seats, Conservatives – 12 seats, SNP -1

2:05am
Declared seats:

Labour – 26 seats, Conservatives – 23 seats, SNP -3, DUP -1, APNI -1
APNI – Alliance Party of Northern Ireland

The Conservative Party have not, so far, actually increased their vote share by much. It stands at +2%. It is the drop in votes for Labour -10%, which is responsible for 5 Conservative gains.

The statements from the public about voting revolve around not wanting Jeremy Corbyn as Prime Minister. Many repeat anti-Labour propaganda which was put out by the right wing tabloid press. The data from areas where Labour has lost support suggests that these are Leave areas and that they have interpreted Labour’s stance as being Remain. Labour’s stance is now neutral, although it previously stated that it respected the vote and argued for protection of rights. This suggests that it is the lack of a parriting the polarised Leave stance which is the cause of the loss of this support.
