FEATUREDWHAT'S ON

Christmas Lights Switch On 2019

Belper

Friday 29th November will see the official switching on of Belper’s Christmas Lights.

King Street is bound to be packed and there will be the usual charity stalls, Santa’s Grotto, and street entertainment.

This year’s official Switcher On-er is Siobhan Fennell.  Siobhan is the founder of Accessible Belper, which has sought to educate the town on how to be inclusive of disabled people.  Siobhan won a British Empire Medal in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for her work for disabled people.

As usual, the switch-on will occur in the Memorial Gardens, with spectators gathering on King Street.  Be there before 5.45pm to hear the speeches and see the switch on.

This year Santa’s Grotto will be situated between Beaurepaire Patisserie and the Jobcentre.

Milford

In Milford, Mayor Simon Mallett will switch on the lights at 4.45pm on Milford Triangle, also on Friday 29th November.

Santa and one of his elves will be present before heading to the grotto in Belper.

Children from Milford School will be singing Christmas Songs.
