Belper Town Council Addressing Pollution & Parking @ Schools

Belper Town Council are planning an initiative to raise awareness of the dangers of the pollution caused by cars idling outside schools, as well as the problems and dangers of inconsiderate parking.

Belper Town Council recently declared a climate emergency.

Councillors will be present at the end of the school day, outside 2 Belper primary schools.
They will be at St John’s CofE Primary and Nursery School on Monday 16th September.
They will be at at Pottery Primary School on Tuesday 17th September.

The councillors will be handing out leaflets and discussing the issues with car drivers.

The town council is hoping to have a police community support officer (PCSO) with them.

Belper Town Council states, “We know that the vast majority of our community do park with consideration and are aware of the problems of leaving car engines running.

However, it is our intention to replicate this activity at all the Town’s Primary Schools so that the message becomes hardwired and has an impact on behaviour.”
