Where Can You Buy The New Belper in Wartime Book?
The new WW1 history book from Belper in Wartime experts now has a list of local retailers.
The book has taken 5 years of work by Belper in Wartime, to research and write, and it explores the lives of each of the soldiers we have been remembering during the centenary, as well as exploring how Belper was changed, the impact of the loss of Belper men on the town, to how we dealt with the injured, and the impact of refugees.
This book of important local history is written by Adrian Farmer and Richard Pinkett, with a chapter by George Gunby, and war-contemporary writing by Belper-born Mary Vincent working in Paris helping Belper soldiers. You can buy it from the following locations:
- Strutt’s North Mill
- Nourish @ No. 44
- The Railway Tearooms
- Belle La Vie
- The Filling Station
- The Book Cafe
- Pellegrino
- Cheeky Bambino
- Motostop
- Perfect Cuppa
- Derwentside Antiques
- No.28 during Belper Market on Saturday 13th July (2 stalls, inside and outside)
The A4 sized book contains a large number of interesting photographs, many unseen by the Belper public, and plenty of written history. It is published by Belper Historical Society, in association with Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site Partnership. It costs £15.
The list is growing! Now also at Motostop, Perfect Cuppa and Derwentside Antiques. And there’ll be stalls both inside No.28 and outside during the Belper Market on Saturday 13 July.
I will update it. Thank you Adrian.
