Book Launch: The Great War by Belper Historical Society

This evening (Wednesday) in the Main Hall at the Strutts Centre, at 7.30pm Belper Historical Society will be hosting the unveiling of a brand new book on Belper – Belper in Wartime: The Great War.

After five years of research this 160-page large format book will be available in the town at selected retailers, priced at £15 (or £10 for society members) and including 196 photographs and over 86,000 words!

The book has been written by the Belper in Wartime stalwarts who organised the centenary events, Adrian Farmer, Richard Pinkett, George Gunby, and WW1 contemporary epistler, Mary Vincent.

Tomorrow, the Society will follow the launch with a presentation of old photographs of Belper for members and visitors to enjoy and discuss.

There’ll be an announcement later this week as to which retailers will be stocking the book, and there will be a stall selling copies in Number 28 at the next cafe which accompanies the Farmers’ Market on Saturday 13 July.

Visitors are welcome at £3 each.
