Mind The Three Peaks After-Party

There is an event today, Saturday 22nd June, at The Drop Inn youth centre on Derwent Street, to celebrate the end of a Mind the Three Peaks Challenge completed by 5 locals.  The Three Peaks challenge involves trekking to the top of the three highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales in just 24 hours, between 14th and 16th June.

The peaks are Ben Nevis (1,344m), Scafell Pike (978m) and Snowdon (1,085m).

We’ll tell you more about the whole challenge and the people involved over the weekend, as they will be relating their adventures on Saturday.

There will be a large number of bands playing at The Drop Inn, from 2pm onwards, including (but by no means limited to) Jasper in the Company of Others, Frank Hunter Trio, Luna Cycle B, Payton Saint, Spindrift and Scribble Victory.  The entertainment has been organised by Node56, the not-for-profit social enterprise which was established 6 years ago to support The Drop Inn with music events.

Hot food will be provided by Vegan Revelation, who are closed for the day at their permanent location.

The day also offers a film screening, fire poi, live grafitti art, art therapy and an auction.

Money raised is being donated to Mind. Mind offers information and advice to people with mental health problems and lobbies government and local authorities on their behalf
