Belper United are looking forward to a Sunday FA Vase Clash against fellow East Midlands Counties side Teversal FC on Sunday.
In the 1st Round Qualifier United had to battle back from being 4-1 down away against Clifton All Whites. With only 15 mins to go in normal time they drew 4-4 each and took the game into extra time.
The goals coming from Sam Vickers and a Ryan Baker hat-trick. The eventual replay at Belper was an easier affair with Belper United winning 3-0 after a brace from Ben Gowing either side of a James Rushby goal.
Teversal breezed through their first round qualifier with agoals from Ben Cartwright, Barry Alberry and Jake Vernon in a 3-0 away victory at Rainworth MW.
Last Season Teversal fought it out at the top of the table all through the season but eventually just fell agonisingly short, finishing in 3rd spot only 2 points behind with winners Dunkirk. In the meetings with Belper United came out the better. Belper United won 1-0 in the away fixture after a James Rushby goal and the home game finished 1-1 the scorer for United was Tim Adcock.
This all points to an exciting Tie, with the victors going into the hat for the First Round Proper.
Belper United have come on leaps and bounds from the early days in the Midlands Regional Alliance, after gaining promotion from the Central Midlands League 3 seasons ago and last year finished a creditable 5th in the East Midlands Counties League. This season is looking like another step forward for the side based mainly around Belper based players.
Also helping is the incredible sponsorship from local firms. Colin Davies, club secretary at Belper United, said: “We are delighted to have Valliant, Raygar, Buildbase and Lester Lowe as the sponsors of our club. We are continually grateful to our sponsors for its ongoing support and hope to do the companies proud out on the field.”
Admission to the game on Sunday is only £5 for adults and £3 for concessions with all the normal hot and cold refreshments from the ground.
