NEWSWHAT'S ON

Burgers, Bumpers And Bikes At Heage Windmill

After two successful events, the Heage Windmill will once again be welcoming a group of American cars, trucks and motor bikes.

The event will be taking place on Sunday September 2 from 11-4 and will be open to all visitors.

Trustee Alan Gifford said: “We have already had two visits from the American Cars to the windmill this year but the owners so love bringing them and showing them to the public who in turn love seeing them gleaming in the sunshine (we hope!) that they are coming back again.”

The visitors will include cars, hot rods, trucks and hopefully motor bikes which have been restored and presented as a very colourful display. They are all owned by proud members of a group known as the ‘Coffee and Cars’.

Any owner of an American car is also welcome to come as well and swell the numbers. The best car on show will be awarded a certificate.

The team of volunteers that run the Heage Windmill recently received their fourth Trip Advisor ‘Certificate of Excellence’ award.

Also on site should be a burger van, whilst the mill will have its own popular bric-a-brac stall in operation, weather permitting.

The 220-year-old Grade 2* listed windmill will be open for guided tours and our visitors will be able to learn how flour was made in days gone by using wind powered millstones.

Perhaps many more people (visitors to Derbyshire ) and indeed ourselves would love to see the events that take place at the windmill. You have free advertising at the caravan park, however have stopped bringing your poster for forthcoming events. What a shame,
