Y NOT Rained Off
Y Not festival was cancelled on Sunday due to safety concerns over the condition of the site.
The four day sold out music festival in Pikehall, Derbyshire was cancelled on Sunday July 30 due to poor weather conditions.
A statement was released by the organisers that stated: “Unfortunately we’ve had to take the difficult decision to cancel Sunday due to the adverse weather conditions across the weekend, after consulting all the relevant authorities. The safety of our guests, performers and crew is our primary concern and the potential risk was too severe for Sunday to go ahead.”
Torrential rain throughout Friday caused significant damage to the arena and camping areas with the main stage being forced to close for several hours. Late in the evening main stage headliners The Vaccines were forced to cancel their performance at the last minute, whilst Clean Bandit only performed a DJ set.
Wow! So much rain today that we couldn't set up our equipment and had to do a dj set/live PA, but you guys were amazing!!! @Y_Not_Festival pic.twitter.com/LpUH0KGL8W

Saturday saw improved conditions throughout the day, with only minor disruptions to the line-up; however, much of the damage from mud and rain was irreversible and with rain throughout the evening the organisers were forced to issue a statement.
Some festivalgoers were extremely angry, with many taking to social media to protest at the poor communication, cancellations and bad planning.
Whilst no specific information was provided regarding refunds the organisers have said: “We understand that people will have questions about refunds. We will be giving all our guests further information about this over the coming days.”

Despite the mud most attendees and performers overcame the elements to enjoy a wide selection of music genres over 11 stages.
Sad that the weather conditions forced YNot to close. Honestly was such a good crowd and vibe at that festival

The atmosphere at Y not was largely positive throughout the weekend with Jake Bugg, Slaves and The Stereophonics capping off a rain free Saturday with a huge audience and dramatic fireworks display.
