Mayors Gather For Civic Service

The Belper Town Mayor’s, Gary Spendlove, Civic service was held on Sunday 12th March at 3.00pm.

The service took place at Christ Church, Belper and was led by the Reverend Jonathan Page with Reverend Alison Roome conducting the splendid choir which included the Rough Truffles singing “The song for Belper”.

Rough Truffles are a mixed voice community choir from Belper. In February they introduced a new choral director, Frances Watt to lead the choir.

The Civic party included the Mayor and Mayoress of Amber Valley with the Mayors and consorts of Wirksworth, Ripley, Heanor, Matlock and Derbyshire Dales also attending.

The music, for an uplifting selection of hymns, was provided by organist David Roome.
