Councillors And Public Get Spring Cleaning

Members of Belper Town Council and residents of Belper and Milford joined together on the morning of Saturday the 4th of March to give the local streets a Spring Clean.

The event organised by the Town Council as part of Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean, saw volunteers in high viz jackets litter picking on  parks, streets and alleyways.

The Spring Clean collected over 30 black bags of litter.

The Great British Spring Clean is described as a “campaign with one simple ambition. To bring together people from across the country to clear up the litter that blights our towns, villages, countryside and coastline.”

Keeping Belper clean is shared duty between the Borough Council and the Town Council, but other organisations such as  Belper and Duffield Rotary Club also do a weekly litter pick in Belper Town Centre (from April to October).

The Town Council advise that anyone wishing to organise a community litter pick can borrow litter pickers from Amber Valley Borough Council.
