BELPER GOES GREENENVIRONMENTNEWSWHAT'S ON

Transition Café At No 28 This Saturday

After the success of the Transition Café at No 28 in October, Transition Belper now has the opportunity to make this a monthly event.

A monthly café could become a regular opportunity for Transition Belper members and supporters to meet as well as an informal, friendly way of enabling curious members of the community to find ask about Transition Belper and its groups and projects.

It is expected that the Inner Transition Group, Crich Lane Festival Gardens volunteers, Belper Goes Green (with festival site decoration team) as well as the new veg box gardening scheme will be available at the café at No 28 on Saturday.

There will also be the opportunity for other community initiatives to be there for those attending. On Saturday Anne Clark will be telling people about Belper Woollen Woods that will be part of the Arts Festival and Jenny Lesley, who is a trained life skills coach, will be publicising her free daytime courses for people with low incomes. There is also the possibility that those Holbrook people campaigning to save the Spotted Cow will be asking for help.

Transition Belper will be providing refreshments, cakes and biscuits; all the things you would expect from a café. Apart from the café and a showcase for projects it could become an incubator for new initiatives and ideas.

Ideas so far include:

  • Energy advice
  • Jam and pickle bring and buy
  • Excess garden produce swap
  • Belper Apple Day
  • Repair workshop

The first café will be on Saturday 28th of January at No 28 Community Hall, 28 Market Place, Belper from  10.00am – 1.00pm.

Future cafes could include the B-Hive ECO Shop, news from the Station Crew who maintain the railway station gardens, discussions with the Travel and Transport team and input into the Neighbourhood Plan.

If you would like to be involved, or have ideas for new projects, you are invited to attend or contact Transition Belper via email at info@transitionbelper.org
