Local Area Coordination is an exciting approach that supports people to build and pursue their vision for a ‘good life’, stay strong and connected with friends, family and their local community.

Derbyshire County Council Adult Care, in partnership with Southern Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group and our local partners are proud to be seen as one of the pioneers in developing this new approach in England.

We are recruiting four Local Area Coordinators to work in the Belper and Ripley areas of the Amber Valley Borough. Due to current funding the posts will be temporary for three years from start date.

We are looking for exceptional individuals who combine a passion for their local community with a commitment to working alongside people in very practical ways.  You will need experiences of working alongside and supporting individuals with disabilities, mental ill health, older people, families and/or carers and a background or interest in community development. You will have an understanding and practical experience of advocacy and supporting people to plan for the future. You will be a creative thinker who is able to work in innovative ways and you must be committed to co-production. We need strong networkers who can also work sensitively with individuals, groups, communities and partner organisations.

This is an exciting opportunity to help us develop a new way of working, be at the forefront of transformation and service reform. We are particularly keen that the people of Belper and Ripley are aware of the new position and apply.

NB. When completing the application please indicate whether you wish to work in Belper or Ripley. Due to the community led approach to recruitment, if shortlisted, you will then be offered an interview in that area.

Closing date: Sunday, 25 September 2016
