The Countdown To The 5th Belper Games Starts Now

It’s now less than two weeks until the fan-tabulous Belper Games gets under way at the Rugby Club.

Set up 5 years ago to raise funds for Penny’s Fund, a local charity which provides funding for three charities, Ataxia UK, The Pulmonary Fibrosis Trust, and Scleroderma and Raynauds UK, the Games is now a fond and eagerly anticipated event in the Belper calendar. Penny’s Fund is a key fundraiser for these smaller charities and this makes the Games just that little bit more special.

This year sees the event become a real “Weekender” with everything kicking off on the Friday Film Night with The Lion King showing at 1830 and Grease at 2030. Saturday is the main event featuring the “It’s a Knock Out” style games themselves supported by a myriad of market stalls, food stands, the Real Ale bar, kiddies fairground rides, a dog show and much much more.

The biggest difference is that this year there is no let up after the big party on Saturday night with headliners Dammit Jack (and local legends R:ed and Wheatabix) as Sunday will host a “Total Wipeout” style day and yet more music into the night with Britpop Legends Chris Helme and Rick Witter making appearances!

The team have been hard at work over the past months to bring Belper the biggest and best weekend and they sincerely hope to welcome people from further afield too. With funds of over £22,500 raised last year, they really are aiming for the sky this time!

The whole event kicks off on Friday 15th July and is hosted at the Rugby Club, Derby Road, Belper DE56 1UU.
