Time Running Out To Microchip Your Dog

Amber Valley dog owners are reminded that from 6th April 2016 the microchipping of dogs in England will be compulsory.

After 6 April if your dog is not microchipped and registered on an approved database it could be seized, detained and microchipped at your expense, or you could be issued with a Notice giving you 21 days to get your dog chipped. Failure to comply with the Notice could result in a £500 fine.

Microchipping is a quick and safe means of ensuring that if your dog is lost or stolen it can be returned to you as quickly as possible with the minimum of stress and without incurring detention and kennelling charges.

Amber Valley Borough Council is currently offering a service to microchip your dog.

The cost of microchipping is £20 inc VAT if they visit you at home, or a discounted fee of £15 inc VAT if you attend one of their organised sessions.

Their wardens will also be in attendance for the microchipping of dogs at the following sessions :

Crossley Park, Ripley – Thursday 10th March, 10.00am -1.00pm

Heanor Memorial Park (main entrance) – Thursday 17th March, 1.00pm -4.00pm

Alfreton Park (Wingfield Road entrance) – Wednesday 23rd March, 10.00am -1.00pm

Belper Deer Park (Park Road entrance) – Thursday 31st March, 1.00pm -4.00pm

All of the wardens are fully trained and hold a Lantra Level 3 Award in Performing Microchip Implantation in Animals.
