Jo’s Gardening Update

The warm autumn has obviously confused the plants. There is a primrose already flowering in my garden. Also a few aubrietia flowers hanging on in there and on the North facing side of the house the dog rose is still blooming. The green shoots of snowdrops are inching their way up.

The Cotoneaster has lots of berries which the blackbirds like to eat. The holly bush also has berries. I am hoping I might see a redwing again this year as I did a few winters ago; it ate all of the holly berries (except one!). It must have been hungry.

Sometimes the snow brings birds of prey close, hoping to snatch a quick snack of sparrow from the neighbour’s bird table.
