Officers Investigating A38 Fatal Incident Appeal For Dashcam Footage

Do you have a dashcam device installed in your car that could help the police with an investigation into a fatal collision?

Derbyshire Constabulary are keen to speak to anyone who was travelling southbound on the A38 between junction 28 of the M1 and the Kilburn turn off between 10.30pm and 11pm last night.

Their collision investigators want to view any footage that will have recorded that journey as part of an investigation into the death of a woman whose body was found on the A38 just south of Ripley.

Even if you don’t think you recorded anything relevant, please come forward and allow the police to make the assessment.

Officers were called to a stretch of the southbound A38 between Ripley and Kilburn, following reports that there was a body in the road.

A body was found by officers a short time later and an investigation has been ongoing since then.

There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances but they need to hear from as many witnesses as possible while their inquiries continue.

In particular, the police want to trace the occupants of a car that was seen near to where the body was found. They understand that one of the occupants of the car got out for a short time, before then getting back in and driving off.

The police are not sure precisely what time this car would have stopped but if you were driving along the A38 last night and you did pull over, the police want to hear from you urgently.

If you have any information that could help their officers, call Sergeant Scott Riley from the Collision Investigations Unit on 101, quoting incident 983 of August 3.
