“Mini Comedic masterpiece” We Are Brontë Announced For Belper

Angus Barr and Sarah Corbett are to bring their madcap performance to Belper with ‘We Are Brontë.’

Taking place at the Belper Ruby Club on Thursday 23rd March at 7:30, the Live & Local event ‘We Are Brontë’ will run for one night only and is suitable for ages 12+.

‘We Are Brontë’ is a madcap physical interpretation of the Brontë myth, taking the real and imaginary worlds of the Yorkshire siblings as inspiration. With only a handful of props, two performers deconstruct not only gothic themes of love, madness and revenge, but also themselves.

Morecambe and Wise meets David Lynch in this madcap reimagining of the Brontë myth, presented in Publick Transport’s playful and irreverent style. Taking the real and fictitious worlds of Yorkshire’s literary siblings as their inspiration, two performers combine rigorous physical theatre with anarchic comedy to deconstruct not only gothic themes of love, madness and revenge, but also themselves.

Two extremely serious performers use physical theatre to quintessentialize gothic themes of love, madness and tuberculosis in this hilarious interpretation of the Brontë myth.

The hour long theatre is created and performed by Angus Barr and Sarah Corbett and directed by Ed Rapley.

We Are Brontë was developed in association with Bristol Ferment (Bristol Old Vic’s artists development programme), and is supported by Arts Council England. Additional support was given by Tobacco Factory Theatres and The Bike Shed Theatre.

Belper Rugby Club, Thursday 23rd March 7:30 pm. £9.00 (standard) / £7.50 (OAP) / £7.50 (Student Cards)
