Family Fun Day on the Belper Parks

On Friday 19th August there will be a Family Fun Day from 1-4pm on the Park by the Belper Children’s Centre.

There will be lots of activities to have a go at, including a Mobile Climbing Wall, Drumming, Face Painting, Games and a range of art and craft activities. For the younger ages there will also be Soft Play fun from Skyeland. Throughout the afternoon there will be refreshments, as well as some information stalls about the new Blue Box Community Facility as well as plans for the future of Belper’s Children’s Centre. This will all be followed by a ‘bring your own’ picnic from 5pm, out on the Park.

This Family Fun Day, which is being organised in partnership by Derbyshire County Council and the Blue Box Community Organisation, is an opportunity for residents of the Parks Estate to come together and hear about the latest plans to develop a new community facility to replace the old Blue Box building.

Tom Wyke, Chair of the Blue Box Community Organisation, said: “The old Blue Box, which suffered an arson attack in August 2014, was demolished in 2015, and since then the Blue Box Community Organisation has been working hard to develop plans for a replacement. These plans have been boosted by a pledge of financial support from the Belper Town Council, as well as fundraising activities by local young people. The Committee is keen to hear feedback on the plans for a new community facility from the local community.”
