Vigil for the Persecuted at Belper Unitarian Chapel Tonight.
Unity in Belper for unity across the world.
Tonight there will be a vigil at the Unitarian Chapel in response to the anti-LGBT massacre in Pulse in Florida (50 dead, 53 injured), to the “Road of Death” air strikes in Aleppo, Syria (450 dead this month) and in acknowledgement of all other prejudice, persecution and physical harm done human upon human throughout the world. The vigil will be “to hold in our thoughts people who are being killed, tortured and persecuted because of who they are or where they are”.
The vigil, like Unitarianism and the chapel itself, is open to all faiths and to those with no faith – united. The vigil will meet from 6pm to 7pm.
People often have trouble finding the Unitarian Chapel, despite it being the town’s oldest (still running) place of congregation and worship. It is the turning up the hill on Green Lane before Mill Street and the chapel is set back behind a gate on your left.
Thanks for getting this together. It feels important to do this.
