Belper Churches Unite for Good Friday
Good Friday in Belper was marked by people from all the local churches gathering to remember the events of the crucifixion.
Culminating at Bridge Street, the congregation gathered around the cross near the railways bridge for a short reading and some worship. Children were asked to place stones around the crucifix to remember the death of Jesus Christ. They were given gifts and then the hymn ‘I Survey The Cross’ was sung by all those who attended.
Afterwards, many people took a walk up the hill to Number 28 where soup and bread was being provided.
